Another great film from the talented Inarritu. Similar to his other two films
"Amores Perros" and "21 Grams," "Babel" revolves around three stories that collide in
the end. Babel drew me in right from the beginning, as it focused on tension between
relationships. Everyone struggles to connect in some way, from a struggling
married couple, a father and daughter who lack communication, and a two brothers who fight
for their father's love and respect. You can tell that Alejandro Gonzalez Inarittu has
matured in his film making, as "Babel" has a much more clean and polished feel to it. He has lost a
little of his rough and "independent" style which was a little disappointing but not many directors
can hold on to that these days. My favorite part of this film was the way Alejandro showed a dance club
scene through a deaf girl's eyes, or should I say ears. Exceptional acting from all aspects, including a
mute, two young middle eastern boys, and Brad Pitt. "Babel" was no doubt a great film, but I hope Alejandro
is remembered for "Amores Perros" instead of this film.
