by Joel Mathiesen Vinnie and Stoupe still got it, that's all I have to say. This is their fifth album and they have yet to disappoint. The "Uncommon Valor (A Vietnam Story)" is probably the best hip hop story I've heard since Immortal Techniques powerful Dance With The Devil. For just on the Vietnam song alone, I would recommend purchasing this album, or at least giving it some respect by listening to it. Also, Jedi Mind Tricks seemed to be a little less harsh and bloody on this album, which is a plus for all the fans who were turned away from Vinnies hardcore, graphic lyricism. Overall, Jedi Mind Tricks released another great album and I'm sure they have many more to come as they keep staying in the spotlight with the best of emcees in the indie hip hop movement. |

by Joel Mathiesen The Wu-Tang influence is seen everywhere in music and Bronze is a prime example of that. A creative emcee and producer, The Great Migration was well thought out as it was put together from the first to the last track. This is as close as you can get to TRUE hip-hop without falling into the indie category. Hopefully Bronze can represent his hometown so the world won't think Eminem was the only good thing that ever came out of Detroit.

by Joel Mathiesen What comes to mind when someone says "southern rap"? We probably think of the hugely popular mainstream movement from Lil' Jon to Chamillionaire, but we should be thinking of these guys. A Piece of Strange is the Cunninlynguist's third album and definitely their best. Kno really stepped his game up on the production side, making this CD complete with incredible and complex beats. There is even an instrumental track on the album that truly shows just how Kno and his production has matured. The songs "Nothing to Give" and "You Never Knew" which features Immortal Techniques are just a couple of tracks that really stand out on this intelligent album. A Piece of Strange is the best southern rap album since Outkast's Stankonia. |
