The negative: It's been done.
The positive: It's really, really fun!

Snow Patrol and Death Cab for Cutie have already conquered this territory, so what's left to do? I guess the Weakerthan's have found the answer - Just keep being creative. In the case of Reunion Tour The Weakerthans show the music world how to critically succeed by being creative but not necessarily original. Who cares if they're not trying to break new ground? Who cares if their sound has been around for a decade and peaked in popularity several years ago with Snow Patrol's album, Final Straw?

I guess my point is, even though I tend to be overly picky about originality I like to give credit where credit is due. The Weakerthans know the importance of creativity. A lot of subtle shifts and changes in the instrumentation is layered on top of their familiar alternative pop sound. This keeps the songs accessable and familiar, yet provides listeners with a sound that is, at times, incredibly fresh and new and the tunes are as catchy as anything playing on the radio today. Reunion Tour isn't meant to satisfy the listenerss artistic itch. It's meant to be played during a long car ride home and bring a smile to your face while you tap the stearing wheel.
